When something is spelled wrong in your web address, a person is taken to what is known in the techy-world as a 404 page. It might say something like “page can’t be found”.

what you may not know is that these pages are totally customizable and can say whatever you want. They are important because you don’t want to lose someone if they are a potential lead and they’ve just typed a wrong address in.

Try typing in your domain and then add this at the end “/corey” so it would look like: www.yourdomain.com/corey. you should see if you have a custom 404 page or just the basic one that scares people away. To see an example of a custom one, go to www.ebootcampbook.com/wrong and you’ll see mine.

and if you want to see some real creative 404 pages, check this site out: http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2009/01/29/404-error-pages-one-more-time/

Ok, now get on the phone with your web guy/gal and get yourself a custom 404 page!

best,

corey
