Bueller! Bueller! Don’t Miss This Guide to Crushing Social Media in 2025 ( + LinkedIn Secrets Included!)
Just like Ferris Bueller squeezed a lifetime of fun into one day, we squeezed a ton of tips and strategies into this email!
Here’s what we are sharing with our clients on taking their digital content to the next level. ⤵
▪ Short-form Video: Reels are here to stay!
▪ Keep it concise (15-30 seconds)
▪ Eye-catching visuals are key
▪ Strong call to action (like, comment, share)
▪ Utilize trending sounds & effects
▪ Collaborate with other creators
BY THE NUMBERS:
▪ 90% of Instagram users follow at least one business account.
▪ 70% of users discover new products on Instagram.
▪ 50% of users visit a website after seeing an Instagram ad.
JUST GETTING STARTED? ⤵
Share relatable content. Let your personality shine!
Create a Content Calendar: Focus on 3-6 areas of content you can share and come up with a plan to create and show up on social consistently. For some of you this may be two times a week, for others five. I’d rather you show up consistently three times a week, than post a few times here and there and then fall off the wagon. What makes sense for you and your business?
Instagram’s editing tools are powerful. Use them! If you want to stay within the walls of Instagram, it’s perfectly okay to use Instagram’s built-in editing tools to add text, music, and effects to your Reels. They have come a long way and keep incorporating new features to make creating and editing videos even easier.
READY FOR THE NEXT LEVEL? ⤵
Carousels for the Win: Showcase products, services, or expertise in a visually appealing way. They can even appear in the Reels tab for wider reach!
Go Behind-the-Scenes with Stories: Give your audience a peek into your world and build stronger connections.
Advanced Video Editing Options: If you’re ready to create more advanced videos, here are a few of my team’s favorite tools.
▪ CapCut
▪ InShot
▪ Captions App
▪ Opus Clip
▪ Vidyo
If LinkedIn had a Ferris Bueller’s Day Off persona, it would probably be ‘Principal Rooney’ as it is known to be professional and a bit buttoned up. But make no mistake, it’s a valuable resource to connect and build relationships with decision-makers.
Principal Rooney wouldn’t approve of a lackluster LinkedIn profile. Don’t let your professional brand fall short. Elevate your profile with engaging content and active networking.
LINKEDIN’S EVOLVING LANDSCAPE:
▪ Video is making a Comeback: Create educational and actionable video content for increased engagement.
▪ Be Yourself…at Work: Show the professional AND the personal side to your network.
▪ Engage with Other People’s Posts: Comment, Like, and Share engaging content.
▪ Newsletters: Share your thought leadership with others with this new LinkedIn feature.
BY THE NUMBERS:
▪ In terms of LinkedIn active users, there are 1 billion members spread across 200 countries worldwide.
▪ LinkedIn users are 2x more likely to be in decision-making positions.
▪ Video posts generate 40% more engagement than text updates.
▪ According to a RivalIQ study, the average brand posts 3.3 posts a week or about 13 monthly.
JUST GETTING STARTED? ⤵
Craft a compelling profile: Showcase what working with you looks like, what value do you provide, who do you help? Not a biography, but rather a summary of how you can serve others. Be sure to include SEO and keywords people might use when trying to find you.
Update your Images: If you have a profile pic from a few years back, it’s time to get a new headshot up there. Take the time to create a nice LinkedIn header image that reflects what you do. If you’re a speaker, let’s see a nice wide angle shot of you on stage or, if you work in travel, a great picture from your latest adventure.
Incorporate more video into your content: LinkedIn is really pushing this new video feed (similar to what you see now on Instagram and TikTok), so if you’re not sharing video on this platform I would make that a priority this year.
READY FOR THE NEXT LEVEL? ⤵
Boost Visibility and Credibility: Spend 15 minutes a day connecting with decision makers and communicate with them regularly, and aim to indirectly remind people of your expertise and value.
Share Your Thought Leadership: Create a LinkedIn Newsletter. Take advantage of this new feature that reaches your audience inside (shows up to people on their feed and notifications) and outside (sends an email directly to your subscribers) the LinkedIn platform. Start from scratch with new content or repurpose some of your successful blog articles and social media posts. Make sure to tag companies, brands, or people when you mention them and include a nice little closing sentence about who you are and what you do as a reminder to those people who might not have heard from you in a while. Here’s an example of the LinkedIn Newsletter we started this year.
Explore the “Contribute Expertise” feature: Look for articles related to your area of expertise within LinkedIn (as of 12/18/24, this was showing up for some of our clients now as an option when we went to create a new post). Your contributions will be seen by a wider audience, expanding your reach and increasing your brand awareness. Contributing to high-quality content can lead to new opportunities and collaborations.
▪ Continue to weave in the theme of Authenticity with your content – build trust by sharing your real self.
▪ Short-form video is still going to dominate 2025 – embrace Reels on Instagram and explore LinkedIn’s video features.
▪ Network actively on LinkedIn – connect with industry leaders and potential clients.
“You’re still here? It’s over. Go home. Go.”
Remember that line at the end of the movie? It broke the fourth wall, addressing the audience directly. I always thought that was so cool.
It’s time to wrap up and let you get to work putting your 2025 digital strategy together. If I can help by being your Keynote Speaker, doing a Private Consultation for your business, or being an Advisor for your personal brand, I’m at your service. Shoot me an email at Corey@ImpactSocialMedia.com and we’ll chat in the New Year.
