When you create a Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn page for your business, it’s meant to be interactive.  This is the perfect place for customers and prospects to come and learn more about you and what you have to offer.  You can share value with your readers, and engage them in conversation.

One of the biggest mistakes businesses make in social media is having stagnant pages with little to no interaction. This will eventually cause low numbers, “Likes,” and Followers, as lack of participation will drive away interest.  Numbers matter, and when people see low numbers, there is cause for concern.

During his presentations, you’ll often hear Corey say, “I would rather you not have a Facebook page at all than to have one that just sits there.”

Dormant social media profiles can cause concern to potential customers and prospects. Are they still in business?  Are they too busy? Don’t they have anything going on?  These are just some of the questions that your audience will ask if you aren’t active.

Although this happens all too often, here are some techniques to remedy the problem of an inactive page:

  • Understand the Importance: Sharing, adding value, communicating, and responding to inquiries and opinions are just a few of the things that you can do with your pages.  Make your place somewhere fun to be!  Have a goal for your followers to learn something from you.
  • Create a Schedule: This makes life easier, as you can see exactly what you should be posting for that day.  Also, your readers will come to expect certain posts, which can also be engaging.  For example, Monday can be a quote, Tuesday can be an article, and Wednesday can be a “Fun Fact.”  Tailor this to fit your business and its goals.
  • Hire a Social Media Company: Doing this well takes time and resources. If hiring a full time digital marketer is not in the cards, hiring an outside resource might be best solution for your business. Our 20+ clients love that their web marketing is taken care of and they are able to focus on other important areas of their business.
